I can highly recommend this inexpensive IR thermometer. It does exactly what they say it will do. No "perfect" pizza yet, but I'm a whole lot closer by using this thermometer.
The only thing I didn’t like is it doesn’t work for checking body temp — it’s way off. But for food and home things it’s awsome!
I normally use name brand products because of their reputation. For this type of instrument, I use a Fluke at work often. I had debated whether to purchase a +$100 LASER meter or try this one. Boy am I glad I tried this one. It is very accurate. I used a calibrated temperature plate at work set to 160 F. to test. I was very surprised when it actually read the correct temperature. Of course, the reflectivity and distance to object you are measuring will have some effect (as it does with any thermal imaging or measuring device).
ThermoPro is known for grilling type thermometers, not LASER temperature probes. But they have a good reputation in the grilling industry. Now I can say they have a great LASER temperature probe.
It runs on 2 “AAA” batteries, easy and inexpensive to replace. They include batteries to get you started.
For less than $20, this is an absolute deal.
