After continually having sooooo many issues with a different brand of WiFi power strip, I returned it and ordered the Meross Smart Power Strip, hoping it wouldn't be another exercise in frustration. Fears assuaged. Out-of-the-box the Meross strip configured with absolutely no issues. It connected immediately to my WiFi, showed up in my SmartThings app/hub, and has been operating flawlessly ever since. I configured on/off times for some channels (in SmartThings) and everything just works.

The strip is physically set up in the garage, and is running a couple of outdoor lights, as well as some other accessories in the garage. Each outlet can be controlled on/off independently, and can even be assigned to different rooms in SmartThings (so I'm able have my outdoor lights show up in my "Outside" room, and the other things show up in my "Garage" room), which is nice. You can also turn the entire strip on/off as one action.

The other WiFi strip I had offered energy monitoring, which I do sort of miss, but I can't dock the Meross for that since it's not advertised as having that capability. And I'll trade energy monitoring for having the product work when I need it to, any day.

I'm not currently using the USB ports at all, but they'll probably come in handy some day.

I have several Meross products in my home so I was excited to try out this new smart power strip. With all the holiday decorations going up around the house, having a way to control them all from one location is really handy. For example, the lights I use for my tree cannont be stacked together so they each need their own plug. Instead of buying multiple individual smart plugs, this power strip gives me several smart outlets one device.

This strip has a total of 5 controllable devices--4 individual power plugs and a bank of 4 USB A plugs. The setup into HomeKIt is as seamless as you'd expect: 1) Plug the strip into the wall socket, 2) Scan code in the Home app, and 3) Finish setup in the Home app. In the Home app, you can have the power strip appear as one tile or each outlet as separate tiles. The physical button on the power strip turns on/off all the outlets and USB ports at once.

I also setup the power strip in the Google Assistant app and it was similarly straightforward, so I assume the Alexa setup is as well.

My only criticism of this strip is that it doesn't seem to be a surge protector as well. I don't know if this is a limitation of the smart home devices because no one seems to be doing this, but I think it would be great to have surge protection as well.

I do recommend downloading the Meross app in addition because they make it easy to update firmware. Meross has been consistent about updating firmware and fixing bugs.

For full transparency, Meross did provide this product to me for a review, but my opinions are 100% my own.

I have a straightforward application - some equipment plugged in that I need to turn on or off simultaneously using Alexa voice command. Setting it up required installing an App on my Android smartphone, but after that so far (a few weeks in) it has been smooth sailing. For this simple application it works like a charm. I haven't controlling the outlets individually as I have no need to do so, so I can't comment on how well that works or not. Overall I feel this was a cost effective solution for my needs.

This surge protector was exactly what I was looking for. It was super easy to add Apple Home and worked great for several months. Unfortunately, it completely stopped working after about 8 months. Fortunately, Meross customer support was great. They responded immediately and shipped a replacement out very quickly with no hassle.

When I first connected it I lost connections a few times, but after running all the troubleshooting steps I got it working and it’s been great since then! Have it set up with my wife and my bedside lamps, fans, and our phone chargers!

    Pros:

    Four 3-prong indivially controlled sockets
Four USB-A recepticles controlled as a group
Integrates well with Homekit and Shortcuts
    Solid construction

    Cons:

    2.4Ghz only
Homekit setup is extremely difficult, even for a technical person (See below)
A bit expensive for four sockets
I emailed tech support with the problem, including all the steps I had done and all the errors. A response came in 24 hours simply restating the steps I had followed. They didn't even bother to read the email.

    Homekit Setup
In 2022, no device should refuse to connect to 5Ghz, and yet, this power strip rquires 2.4Ghz. If you use a modern WiFI router both networks likely have the same SSID. If so, you have to disable 5Ghz (or change the name of your 2.4Ghz network, if your router permits it), switch your iPhone to that network, and then try to connect. This failed miserably with my Eero WiFi mesh routers, even after disabling 5Ghz and WPA3, and setting the router in 'legacy mode'.

In order to get this device to connect, I had to dig out an old Airport Express router, configure it with separate SSIDs for 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Even then it wasn't simple, as the Homekit configuration failed every time. Eventually, I configured it with the Meross app without Homekit support. That finally worked, and I could then add it to Homekit.

It literally took two hours to do something that should take five minutes, mostly because this unit only supports 2.4Ghz and doesn't like WiFi6 routers.

Note, my Ring equipment does not directly support Homekit, but using Homebridge I was able to integrate it into Homekit in less than 30 minutes start to finish, including downloading specialized software (a Docker container) to my Synology. Meross needs to get their act together.

-2 stars for the lack of 5Ghz and the hoops necessary to connect to Home kit.
-1 star for poor tech support
-1 for sugestion of turning off 5Ghz AND turning off Wifi 6 on my Eero to resolve this problem.

I connected this to Apple Home kit (I think there are two versions so if Homekit is important get the right one) which was quick and painless and am very impressed with how quickly it responds to commands.
