The probes reported the same ambient temps and in the meat they were very close to the instant read I used to confirm the temp it was only 3 degrees difference but the instant read wasn't very instant so i feel confident in the new probes
One thing I guess could be better is the install and setup of the app but once it was installed I really like how it walks you through the cook and i like the voice prompts its a good reminder but I still find myself going earlier or later sometimes.
It may seem a bit expensive but once you get the unit in your hands it feels like a very good quality product and once you get it setup it gets better.
I would definitely recommend this unit to friends
Even though things were fully charged, the first probe never connected. Probe 1 & 2 connected, and when we began using them, the base said to turn the meat when it had reached 92 degrees (which is earlier than the previous version used to say) so we turned the meat. Then every 45-60 seconds it kept repeatedly saying to turn the meat. This continued until the meat was removed. Our other Chef iQ only said to turn the meat once, as it should. The 2025 version also did not seem to be as accurate in determining when the meat was medium rare
When I removed the probes, probe 2 stayed connected, but probe 3 disconnected, and I could not get it to connect again. So, out of the three probes, only one was working after the first use.
I thought it would be easier for my husband to see the differently colored probes, but the number 2 on the yellow background of the second probe is impossible to see, and my husband prefers the black probes.
In summary, the previous version of Chef iQ is a wonderful device that results in perfectly cooked meat, but this 2025 version is terrible and I think the company is doing itself a major disservice by even sending it to people since is does not function and gives the company a very bad name. Get the earlier version of the Chef iQ and you'll love it; the 2025 version is junk.
Love the app.
Only real con was the alarms- the unit base has a speaker in it- that’s cool except for I’m in bed hoping it’s going to tell me on my phone and not a speaker that 75’ away.
Cool features are its recipe area, and cook time algorithm- it’s constantly checks and averages the time based on progress. So the time does update and I found it to be pretty accurate. I cut a huge brisket into 3 pieces and each had a different time to wrap it and a different estimated finish time.
The onscreen interface is nice too- you can see all probes at the same time and click on which one and not have to navigate back n forth.
