I researched for a long time for a feature rich doorbell camera that give you full access to all the advanced features available in the device without require monthly subscription payment. Most doorbell cameras today advertise impressive feature sets, but require you to pay a monthly subscription fee to unlock features already present in the hardware and software - in other words, these companies put in specific software provisions to block you from accessing features that are already present in the device!

Eufy camera is the one most advanced doorbell camera that offers so many advance features, all without any subscription. Below are useful features that make Eufy E340 an outstanding product:
    - Dual high-res camera; one capturing the visitor and another looking downwards to monitor delivered packages
    - High resolution images w/ 8GB of video storage; enough to keep multiple weeks of downloadable video w/o any subscription
    - Good image quality with HDR despite strong late afternoon direct sunlight (see photo)
    - User friendly mobile app: the same user friendly & intuitive app integrates all Eufy security camera together so you can see and interact with all your cameras in the same app (I have multiple floodlight & security camera all in one app)
    - The mobile app is capable of tracking all your doorbells and security cameras across multiple physical locations - great if you have multiple residents or office/store locations you want to monitor on the same app
    - Can either operate in battery mode, or get power from AC if you have a existing wiring a traditional doorbell and door chime
    - Can respond to doorbell activations automatically with pre-recorded audio message
    - Has face recognition capability and can alert you or automate response when it sees familiar faces (I have not yet tested this feature)

Purchased this for my parents'. My goal was to alert them to any motion as we had some suspicious people day and night. Setup was a breeze to connect. We added familiar faces which it detects but would like a feature/setting where it doesn’t notify motion for people that live there. However it is nice when viewing past recordings to scan for any strangers.

It would also be nice to set a schedule of time when it notifies besides manually snoozing.

I like that it works with Alexa, we set up our Amazon Dot to notify us of motion or a doorbell ring. It has good internet connectivity as our router is in the back of the house.

One major issue is that the whole doorbell can easily be pulled off by hand from the wedge/mount and stolen. Only the mount is screwed into the house. For those where the doorbell is more exposed and seen or high traffic/crime areas, it may be an issue.

Also wired doesn't mean it's fully running off power. Still requires the battery in addition. Our wires were old so we are strictly using battery. It lasts roughly a month before needing to be charged. Major plus is free recording and local recording.

    Title:

I’ve been using the Eufy video doorbell for a while now, and I’m thoroughly impressed with its performance. The video quality is sharp and clear, even at night, thanks to its excellent night vision. The motion detection is accurate and customizable, ensuring I only get relevant alerts. One of the best features is the no monthly subscription, which saves a lot in the long run compared to other brands. Installation was quick and easy, and the app is user-friendly, providing seamless control and notifications. If you’re looking for a reliable, high-quality smart doorbell, Eufy is an outstanding choice. Highly recommend!

Works amazing. Easy to setup and get going. Love the look and design. The video and resolution is great. Only small gripe is the connection to the live view and recordings could be quicker. Not having to subscribe to anything extra is a major plus too.

'eufy' Video Doorbell E340 (Battery Powered) – Model: T8214
'eufy' MiniBase Chime – Model: T8023 (Security Video Doorbell E340 Add-On Indoor Chime)

Anker Innovations Co., Ltd., commonly known as 'Anker', is a Chinese electronics manufacturer based in Changsha, Hunan, China. It was founded in 2011 and maintains subsidiaries in Japan, Singapore, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Anker is the owner of the 'eufy' brand name (with a small 'e'), that debuted in 2016, primarily known for its RoboVac robotic vacuums. 'eufy' launched its home security products in 2018 and the brand is now well known for its wide range of security products and services. Like its parent Anker brand, 'eufy' cuts out the middleman, selling via Amazon and directly from its own website.

With all the TV commercials about security video doorbell cameras, I decided I wanted one. Before purchasing, I went to Best Buy so I could inspect the different video doorbell cameras — Ring, Nest, Arlo, Blink, 'eufy', and others — because I did not want to rely on just what I saw on television or internet video or read about. I chose 'eufy' primarily because of my perception of the quality of the device in comparison to the others and also because of its battery option and freedom from subscription. I chose to buy on Amazon because its service and pricing are excellent and beyond compare, which is why I am an Amazon Prime subscriber. I purchased the bundled 'eufy' Security Video Doorbell E340 – Model: T8214' and the 'eufy' MiniBase Chime – Model: T8023' (Security Video Doorbell E340 Add-On Indoor Chime). The 'eufy' Security Video Doorbell E340 is dual enabled to be either Wired or Battery Powered, your choice: Choose battery mode for easy installation or choose wired mode to eliminate charging altogether. I chose the battery setup. Although it comes with a quick-release battery pack, a backup battery is available as a separate purchase, and recommended as a spare for quick swaps to avoid downtime due to charging.

In my opinion, on inspecting the 'eufy' Video Doorbell E340, the look of the design and the feel of its construction indicate that it is evidently manufactured with high-quality materials and components; the device has a substantial feel. The manufacturing assembly is flawless. Holding the devices, I felt the other manufacturer's builds were more plastic and less substantial. About the technology, I relied on what I read. Also, I read reviews about the difference in the various manufacturers employment of camera technology. It is a matter of debatable science, but I chose to believe 'eufy's' technology is excellent. As for privacy, I am not concerned about Anker 'eufy' being a Chinese manufacturer or that their devices might spy on me. I am pleased with the Anker 'eufy' Security product.

After installing the 'eufy' App (Version v4.8.2_2005 Updated Mar 8, 2024) on my Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra smartphone (running One UI 6 Android 14), the 'eufy' App presents a QR code to be scanned by the 'eufy' Video Doorbell E340 camera to pair the camera to my Wi-Fi router. I had some difficulty in pairing my 'eufy' Battery-powered Video Doorbell E340 to my Netgear Nighthawk gigabit Wi-Fi Cable Modem Router because I did not know that the 'eufy' doorbell E340 cannot connect directly to a Wi-Fi network. A HomeBase is required, and it must be setup and paired before pairing the doorbell. I purchased the 'eufy' MiniBase Chime add-on for the E340 doorbell and still needed assistance in pairing the devices with my Wi-Fi. Telephoning customer support was immediately rewarding, with a real live intelligent person.

Routers typically broadcast Wi-Fi networks in both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. In order to set up your 'eufy' Security devices successfully, be sure you select the SSID that indicates it is a 2.4 GHz network. Your smartphone has a setting to enable you to see the Wi-Fi frequency. If your router has the same Wi-Fi network name for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi bands, your 'eufy' Security device will automatically connect to the 2.4GHz band. Pairing the MiniBase and the Video Doorbell isn't so straight forward. For this I needed personal instruction. I'm not technologically astute.

My experience with Anker – 'eufy' Customer Support was excellent. The Customer Support Team was professional and conscientious. Well-trained and knowledgeable, they diligently devoted all the time needed on the phone, patiently, caringly and courteously talking me through the connection procedure. I first paired the MiniBase Chime to my Netgear Nighthawk Wi-Fi Router's 2.4 GHz frequency using the 'eufy' App. My Wi-Fi router confirmed its 2.4 GHz connection to the 'eufy' App, and the 'eufy' App confirmed its connection to the MiniBase Chime.

Then I paired the 'eufy' Video Doorbell E340 with my Wi-Fi router through the 'eufy' App by using the video doorbell camera to scan the QR code produced by the 'eufy' App. This didn't go as expected. It didn't pair with my router, it paired with the MiniBase Chime. The 'eufy' App chain of connection first connects the base to the Wi-Fi and then the doorbell to the base. The doorbell doesn't appear in my router's list of connected devices; the router only shows that the base is connected. However, the doorbell functions as it should. I get a live feed video on my 'eufy' App. The vision on the App is very clear. When the doorbell button is pressed, the MiniBase Chime rings; so does my phone. I can talk and hear through the App. The connection procedure progressed as it should. Order and method are essential. The connection procedure progressed perfectly, thanks to the technical expertise of the 'eufy' support engineers talking me through each step.

'eufy' Security Customer Support was admirably and commendably tireless. Their dedication was resolute. They did not give up, and were extremely patient with my lack of technical knowledge. I could not be more pleased. My Anker 'eufy' Security Video Doorbell is a prestigious addition to the technology in my home. It works, and it is awesome!

If you have a standard doorbell and want to use the current chime make sure to have the proper transformer. I purchased a 16V 30VA doorbell transformer from amazon and it works perfectly.

The camera itself is very nice, easy to install. Great image quality.

The setup was a little bit frustrating thats why I removed one star. I tried everything to connect the camera to my wifi and it just didn’t want to. I have Ubiquiti access points that share the same SSID for 2.4 and 5Ghz so I even tried splitting them without success. I tried using my router wifi instead of my APs and nothing.

I was about to return the camera but I came across a forum post on Eufy to try with a different device. Why would my iPhone 13 be the issue ? Well that person was right, I tried with an iPad and was able to connect the camera to the network.

Camera is working great even in cold winter. This is a must have nowadays with all the deliveries which the bottom camera is great for.

Great doorbell, but bad battery life. This doorbell is very amazing for the price compared to others, like the build quality, the recording resolution, the setup, the app. Everything was amazing and easily understandable. If you already had their homebase, the indoor doorbell chime which is additional isn't needed. The homebase could easily be the doorbell chime announcer, which was amazing, however I did not realized and I was brought the doorbell chime by accident. Do not buy the additional doorbell chime unless you do not have a homebase. However using this single handily as a security camera is pretty bad. The battery did not go anywhere near 6 months, lasted only around 3-4 weeks. Fortunately I did not need it for that, just wanted a doorbell that could record and I could talk to whenever I'm not home. Anyways if your looking for a doorbell that acts like a security camera recording every motion, the battery will drain faster than you expected, what you should opt for is a wired, or just a different security camera. I highly recommend either way if you don't mind the changing, charging battery process.

I’ve been using the Eufy Security Doorbell both at my business and home, and it’s been a game-changer for monitoring and security. The video quality is crisp and clear, even at night, which gives me peace of mind knowing I can easily see who’s at the door. The 2K resolution is impressive, and the motion detection works flawlessly, notifying me immediately whenever someone approaches.

What I love most is the two-way audio feature, which allows me to communicate directly through the doorbell, whether it’s with delivery people or guests. The setup was simple and quick, and I appreciate that there’s no monthly subscription required for storing footage.

The doorbell’s design is sleek and modern, fitting well with both home and business aesthetics. Whether I’m at home or at work, I always feel connected and secure. It’s a great investment for anyone looking to enhance their security setup without the added costs of traditional monitoring systems.

I highly recommend the Eufy Security Doorbell for anyone who values convenience, reliability, and high-quality security for both residential and business properties.
