Overheats in the sun. At 88 degrees in Colorado, I start getting warnings from the Aqara App that the camera has overheated. Well gosh, the camera is BLACK PLASTIC. If the weather really does get hot, this is liable to melt to a black plastic puddle on my welcome mat. Another problem was I was unable to add it to Apple HomeKit. It shows up as a hub, but not as a camera or a doorbell. Aqara's G5 Camera Pro hubs are GREAT and I hoped that their doorbell would be as well. I can't return this because I had to super-glue a magnet onto the accompanying chime to mount it within range of the doorbell. So if the sun shines on your door, don't get a BLACK doorbell. I've replaced it with a Wyze doorbell that is WHITE. That doesn't work with HomeKit, but it doesn't overheat. de KØUNX, Jim, in Jefferson County, Colorado.

Echo Show, Google Nest Hub) e ricevere annunci vocali quando qualcuno suonava.

I genuinely like the Aqara G410. Crisp video, smooth setup, sleek look—it’s doing its job like a pro. But the one feature I was most excited for? Custom audio. I had grand plans: a polite but firm “No, thank you!” for salespeople, a “Be right there!” for deliveries.

And then I find out… the custom audio only plays inside. Like, inside the house where the person at the door can’t hear it. So basically, I’m sending messages to myself while the salesperson is still launching into their pitch outside. Cool cool cool.

If Aqara ever lets us play custom messages through the outdoor speaker, I’ll come back and bump this review up. Until then, it’s a solid 4 stars from a hopeful homeowner who rather not speak to sales people like at all.

Update 1: Review dropped from 4 stars to 3 stars after using the camera more and updating firmware. Here's why:

I recently updated the firmware for the doorbell, and it now takes more than twice as long to connect when viewing through Apple HomeKit. The detection inaccuracies have returned, just as I had with the G4, where I am missing footage from several deliveries. I don't know what they messed up with the firmware update, but it has made almost every aspect of this doorbell worse. The only positive I can think of is the image is no longer bright white from over exposure when first opening the camera feed.

It's still a serviceable doorbell, and I'll still be keeping it only due to the lack of options for HomeKit Secure Video battery-powered doorbells.

Original Review:
I used the Aqara G4 doorbell in battery mode for a little over a year, and I never had any major complaints. However, I decided to upgrade to the G410 due to the mmWave sensor. After using for a few days, here are my key takeaways:

1.) The doorbell seems to connect more quickly when opening from both HomeKit or Aqara's app. Aqara's native app has the best performance and video quality.

2.) HomeKit can use the mmWave sensor – you need to ensure you have this set up properly when first integrating the doorbell into HomeKit. The sensor can be used for automations, despite what I'm seeing others report online.

3.) The field of view is the first improvement I noticed, it looks much wider and taller than the old G4.

4.) The lack of HDR is disappointing, but not a deal breaker. My camera faces the sun but I haven't had any issues with exposure. Do I really need to see every detail in the clouds? No. But it would be nice.

5.) The "Tamper Protection" is a joke. It began going off when I inserted my batteries and tried hanging my doorbell back up, and it would NOT shut off. Tried going into the Aqara app, and it conveniently wouldn't connect to the doorbell. I had to furiously take the doorbell back off and rip out the batteries to get it to reboot.

6.) Just disable the linger notifications. By default, it's set to 0 seconds!? You can manually adjust this, but it's finicky at that.

7.) The ability for local storage is nice, but it's a shame you no longer receive Aqara's cloud storage for free, like you do on the G4. I just use an inexpensive micro SD card though, so I'm not too concerned (especially since I almost exclusively look at my footage through HomeKit, which is stored with my iCloud subscription).

8.) The old bracket is identical to this one, so I didn't even have to do a reinstallation! That's probably the best part about this doorbell for me personally.

9.) Finally, motion detection is significantly better than the G4 due to the mmWave sensor. I am seeing more recorded clips with brief motion near my door than before, which leads me to wonder how many recordings I missed with my old G4. There would be plenty of times I'd have packages delivered where my old doorbell wouldn't have a recording, but the G410 has picked all of them up so far.

Overall, I like the doorbell. It's one of the only viable options for battery-operated doorbells that also work with HomeKit Secure Video. As with any product, there are shortfalls that can be improved. I'm not a fan of Aqara removing features (HDR, cloud storage), but they also added new ones (wider field of view, mmWave, faster connection, integrated hub) while maintaining a similar price to what I paid for the G4. This new doorbell is typically discounted, but when I purchased mine, I received an additional 20% off, so it was a minor cost difference compared to the G4 (only about $20).

I'll continue to update this review if my opinions change from long-term use, as the doorbell has only been up for 3 days at this point.

I debated whether to upgrade from the G4 video doorbell. It was working well, but I wanted a wider viewing angle and decided to give the 410 a try. I have no regrets! The enhancement to the viewing angles along with the higher resolution are amazing and well worth the cost. Bonus, this unit slid right into the older model’s mounting bracket so my installation was super simple. Running on the electrical for the builder doorbell with no issues. Connection to HomeKit was seamless and easy. Now, the feature I didn’t know I needed… presence sensor to detect when someone is approaching or lingering at the door area. Face detection works well, too. I don’t think you will regret upgrading from the G4 OR buying the G410 as your video doorbell.

Replacing my year old Aqara G4 Doorbell Cam, this is a worthy replacement. A few additional features, like the wider field of view, and the better resolution. The main reason I upgraded was to gain hub functionality for the Aqara ecosystem, to add more Aqara sensors. Solid upgrade from the previous model, and a great doorbell camera besides, with local storage. Integrated HomeKit Secure Video Cloud support is also great. Not to mention a paid subscription to Aqara's cloud, which I shall be declining. It's nice to have choices!

Wohne im rauhen Norden, und witterungsbedingt sah meine G4 schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen aus. Allein schon deshalb war ich einer der ersten Besteller für die G410. Bin sehr dankbar, dass beide Klingeln das selbe Gehäuse nutzen. So konnte ich die Wandplatte der alten G4 weiter nutzen, und das Upgrade bestand für mich nur darin, 3 Schrauben zu lösen und wieder festzudrehen (1x Gehäuse, 2x Klingeldraht). Super, denn ich wollte auf keinen Fall ein weiteres Mal in meine Wand bohren bzw. meine extra dafür angefertigte Edelstahl-Halterung ändern.

Die Software-Installation ist auch kein Problem, weder in der Aqara App noch in HomeKit. Klingel hat automatisch empfohlen, sich über meinen M3 Hub einzubinden. Schön,dass endlich 5Ghz WLAN mit an Bord ist. Das war neben der oben beschriebenen optischen Themen mein Hauptmotiv für den Kauf.

Leider meine ich, dass die G410 einen kleineren Sichtbereich hat als die G4, kann das aber nicht gross nachmessen. Vielleicht auch nur verzerrte Wahrnehmung von mir, und vielleicht kommt ja auch noch die eine oder andere Verbesserung über Firmware Updates. Da war Aqara in der Vergangenheit ja immer sehr aktiv.

Fürs erste bin ich sehr zufrieden mit dem Gerät, und habe den Kauf nicht bereut. Klingel arbeitet die ersten Stunden genauso zuverlässig wie die gute alte G4, die man glaube ich auch nach wie vor noch ruhigen Gewissens kaufen kann.

Falls sich an meinen Erfahrungen etwas ändert, werde ich das hier nachpflegen.

Très satisfait de cette sonnette Aqara G410. Dès l’unboxing, on sent qu’on est sur un produit de qualité : la finition est propre, les matériaux solides, et l’esthétique moderne (même si un peu grande par rapport à d'autres modèles).

📦 Installation : plusieurs méthodes de pose sont proposées (vis ou 3M), ce qui facilite l’intégration selon les contraintes de la porte ou du mur. On peut l’installer en filaire ou sur batterie, ce qui est très pratique. Dommage toutefois que ce soit des piles et non une batterie rechargeable.

📱 Configuration : l’appairage est simple et rapide, que ce soit via l’app Aqara, HomeKit ou Home Assistant (via le HomeKit Bridge, car très peu d'informations via une installation directe dans HA, ça viendra peut-être avec une MAJ). Aucun souci à signaler, tout a fonctionné du premier coup.

🎥 Qualité vidéo et audio : excellente surprise. L’image est nette de jour comme de nuit (la vision nocturne est efficace), le son est clair dans les deux sens. L’angle de vision est large, et on peut heureusement masquer certaines zones pour respecter la vie privée (ex. : éviter de filmer la rue).

🔔 Performances : les notifications arrivent quasi instantanément (1 seconde environ après appui sur la sonnette), et la détection intelligente repère les personnes qui restent un peu trop longtemps devant la porte, ce qui peut être rassurant.

☁️ À savoir : certaines fonctions avancées (comme les événements Aqara ou le stockage cloud) nécessitent un abonnement. Ce n’est pas indispensable, mais à prendre en compte. L'autre option étant de stocker les flux vidéos sur une carte SD ou un NAS.

I've own the previous G4 model for a couple years and it's been a great HomeKit doorbell. This G410 is a no brainer upgrade as I picked it up during Prime Days for a great price. This new model offers a better resolution and an improved 4:3 aspect ratio and motion detection sensor. It was a snap to swap out because I was able to use the existing mounting plate. The Aqare is not the prettiest doorbell, but I love it's functionality, picture quality, ability to record locally to a SD card and the chime which serves as the hub works great because it mounts inside your house where the Wifi connection is stronger and offers better signal.
